Welcome!
On behalf of the Arizona-Indiana-Michigan Alliance, we welcome you to join us in an upcoming convening that focuses on encouraging and equipping the next generation of leaders in grantmaking institutions. The convening, titled "Not Just A Direction, But An AIM: Equity & Philanthropy", will be a dialogue regarding the critical paths to effective leadership in the foundation sector.
The primary goal for this convening is to uncover- and to address- the concerns of current and future leaders in the grantmaking field. According to the Bridgespan Group's report titled "The Nonprofit Sector's Leadership Deficit", over the decade from 2007-2016, nonprofits will need to attract and develop some 640,000 new senior leaders- the equivalent of 2.4 times the number currently employed. This statistic creates more impact on the sector as baby boomers prepare for retirement in the next few years. For the sector to survive and thrive, it must ensure development of its future leadership now. our discussion willfocus on leadership barriers and opportunities related to age, race and gender, as well as how the sector is (and is not) setting the stage for understanding and supporting the next generation of leaders. This meeting of emerging and senior leaders will provide and open space in which participants will be able to share ideas about shaping the future of institutional grantmaking.
Guest speakers include:
- Lesley Grady, Atlanta Community Foundation
- Carol Goss, The Skillman Foundation
- Martha Lamkin, Lumina Foundation for Education
- Robert Long, W.K. Kellogg Foundation
- Paul Luna, Helios Foundation
- Candy Marshall, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
